Here i share to you my experience in making crafts using Polymer clay.
One day, i went to the cafe to participate in Polymer clay workshop by miss Jiselle Fian of Sugar Clay Beads. Believe me, i did not know anything about Polymer clays & sculpting wasn't even in my list at first. But upon scrolling in my social media, i became curious about the miniatures and how they emphasized the details to it. One of the artists that i saw during the pandemic was the Filipino actor Hero Angeles. He posted his mouth-watering food miniatures & one of those was the Dalgona candy of "Squid Game"!
The teacher was so generous in sharing her knowledge about making Polymer Clay crafts. Also, i noticed that compared to air dry clay, this type of clay needs to be baked in a calibrated oven, and the details you make seem to be more appreciated. Polymer clays are so good if you want to make miniatures with smaller details.
With Polymer clay, you can make lots of things like ref magnets, key chains, personalized mug decors, and even jewelry! Not only that, you can create a customized molder or something to shape another figure with the same size as well, in case you want to mass produce. Among the projects that we can possibly make, making miniature characters is what interests me the most. I want to make miniature people or characters that can stand on top of a cake. XD
Sculpting needs patience too especially if you're beginner at it. At that time i really wanted the characters to look cute so i chose my favorite colors. I've made some mistakes too in putting small particles like the eyes and eyebrows, so it takes a skill to make the face perfect & balanced. Nevertheless, i enjoyed this workshop so much & i have made new friends. Hopefully i can learn more passion projects in the future!
